At In Home WellCare Academy, we’re committed to ensuring accessibility for all as we work toward becoming a DOH-approved CNA training program in Rhode Island. Our website and future training facilities are designed with inclusivity in mind.

ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This statement was last updated on May 29, 2025.

We at In Home WellCare Academy are working to make our site, In Home WellCare Academy (inhomewellcareacademy.com), accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies. At In Home WellCare Academy, this means ensuring that our website is usable by everyone, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments.

Our Accessibility Features

We strive to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, implementing features such as:

  • Text Alternatives: All images, like those of our modern hospital beds and classrooms, include alt text for screen readers.

  • Keyboard Navigation: Our site is fully navigable via keyboard, supporting users who cannot use a mouse.

  • High Contrast: We use high-contrast colors, such as IHWC Blue (#0093C1) on white (#FFFFFF) backgrounds, to enhance readability for users with visual impairments.

  • Clear Typography: Content is presented in Gotham Rounded, a legible typeface, with options to adjust text size for better readability.

Facility Accessibility

Our training facility at 959 N Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, is designed with inclusivity in mind:

  • Existing Features: We already have a ramp installed to ensure easy access for individuals with mobility challenges.

  • Planned Features: We’re preparing to add wide doorways and accessible restrooms, along with adjustable hospital beds and training equipment for trainees with varying physical abilities.

  • Inclusive Learning: Our program will offer accommodations like captioned videos and sign language support to ensure all trainees can participate fully once we’re approved.

Ongoing Efforts

We are continuously improving our accessibility efforts through regular audits, user feedback, and staff training to ensure compliance with accessibility standards. As we work toward becoming a DOH-approved CNA training program in Rhode Island, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment both online and in-person.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted this site in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines, and have made the site accessible to the level of AA. This site's contents have been adapted to work with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard use. As part of this effort, we have also:

  • Set the language of the site to ensure proper interpretation by assistive technologies.

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages for logical navigation.

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages to improve navigation for screen reader users.

  • Added alternative text to images, such as those of our modern hospital beds and classrooms, for screen readers.

  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast, like IHWC Blue (#0093C1) on white (#FFFFFF) backgrounds, for readability.

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site to minimize distractions for users with cognitive or visual impairments.

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible, with captions and transcripts where applicable.

Declaration of Partial Compliance with the Standard Due to Third-Party Content

The accessibility of certain pages on the site depend on contents that do not belong to the organization, and instead belong to Wix. The following pages are affected by this: inhomewellcareacademy.com/contact-us, inhomewellcareacademy.com/blog, inhomewellcareacademy.com/social-media. We therefore declare partial compliance with the standard for these pages.

Accessibility Arrangements in the Organization

We are committed to ensuring accessibility throughout the physical space of our training facility at 959 N Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, from arrival to participation in our programs:

  • Arrival and Entry: The facility is accessible via public transportation, with the nearest bus stop (RIPTA Route 50, Douglas Avenue) located within a quarter-mile, offering a short, flat walk to our entrance. We provide designated accessible parking spaces close to the entrance, equipped with curb cuts for easy wheelchair access. A ramp is already installed at the main entrance, ensuring barrier-free access for individuals with mobility challenges.

  • Navigation Within the Facility: We’re planning to install wide doorways (minimum 32 inches) to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility aids, ensuring seamless movement throughout the facility. Tactile signage with Braille will be added at key locations, such as classrooms and restrooms, to assist visually impaired visitors.

  • Classrooms and Training Areas: Our classrooms will feature adjustable hospital beds and training equipment designed for trainees with varying physical abilities, allowing for height adjustments and easy access. Desks and seating will be arranged with ample space for wheelchair maneuverability, and we’ll provide portable audio induction loops for trainees with hearing impairments to enhance audio clarity during lessons.

  • Restrooms and Amenities: Accessible restrooms will be installed on the main floor, equipped with grab bars, lowered sinks, and sufficient turning space for wheelchairs. A unisex accessible restroom will also be available for added privacy.

  • Additional Services and Accessories: We plan to offer sign language interpreters upon request for trainees who are deaf or hard of hearing, with bookings available through social@inhomewellcareacademy.com. Large-print and Braille versions of training materials will be available at the service desk near the entrance. For visually impaired trainees, we’ll provide audio descriptions of visual training materials during sessions.
